The Camp commences with fanfare, trains young entrepreneurs on digital skills

The camp, an annual programme designed
to train youths, entrepreneurs, creative artists, writers, digital journalists
and bloggers, among others, has kicked-off with fanfare, training young entrepreneurs
on digital skills.
The 2019 edition which was held
in Lagos recently has the theme “Time” and has so much to learn and skills to
acquire.
Founder and Convener of the
organization, Mike Ikenwa, said The Camp is an annual programme organized by the
Bloomgist to bring youths, entrepreneurs, creative artists, writers, digital
journalists and bloggers in one place to share, learn, network and find a way
to assist each other in a creative and revolutionary projects and help one
another develop great dreams.
Speaking further he said the
theme of the 2019 edition “is apt as it was designed to bring to the youths the
need to act on time and the many benefits of keeping to time.
According to him “As a young
entrepreneur, you have many other things to do and many others competing for the
same market, time is so important and vital to growth.
In his keynote, Ikenwa told the
participants “You are the time.” He implored all to move, else stagnancy will
follow.
Ikenwa, speaking further, gave
cognizance to Time, Strategy and Kick-off of a successful business so as to
guide the young entrepreneurs through their entrepreneurship journey.
He gave a thorough talk on how to
startup a business which include the launch, growth and shakeout stage. He went
on to say that there are stages for every business, and to be a successful
business owner, these stages must be taken care of seriously.
He enumerated the stages to
include the Seed Period, Start-Up Stage, Growth Stage, Established Stage, Expansion
Stage, Decline Stage and finally, the Exit Stage.
The Convener cited some career
and examples by saying: “A writer who doesn't read is a failure”
One of the speakers, Miss. Nancy
Herberts who spoke extensively on an interracial topic, “The power of social
media in fighting sexual abuse” implored all to believe that each and every one
has the power to fight sexual abuse with the social media, and also help
victimized ones”.
Stressing on the topic, she said that
an estimate by the UN shows that women aged 15-44 suffers more from rape and
sexual abuse than motor accidents, malaria, etc.
She went on to tell the
participants the effects Sexual Abuse has on its victims which include guilt,
loss of interest, pregnancy, suicidal thoughts, lack of trust, bleeding, and
depression. She added that people should avoid certain discussions and boastful
talks around people giving the reason of people not knowing who and who has
been previously victimized (i.e, sexually abused).
Mr. Chuks Eccil, another speaker
also took over the stage to blow the minds of all present by saying, with
unarguable reasons: “Your business is
your life”. He backed his words with the importance of VISION in the life of
anybody.
One of the highlights of the
event include a digital skill training for business powered by Google who sent
their representatives to power young entrepreneurs on digital skills that will
help them build their businesses.
On a one-on-one discussion with a
participant, she said that she did not regret missing a day off from work, even
at the expense of her salary, for the Camp 2019.
Many couldn't wait for Day2 of
the programme. All looked forward to it, and the day finally came. The boat
ride, the vast water body upon which the participants rode in batches to Ibeche
Beach, the beach experience, comprising the sharing of individual and external
sexually abusive experiences, advice, the beach ball, the different water
games, the swimming, the item7.
All the participants said they are surely
looking forward to The Camp 2020.
